When bridging Jive-x/n communities, how do users authenticate?

Reading the admin guide Connecting Communities with Bridges on bridging, it leaves me wondering what the end-user experience is like.

My main question is how does authentication occur between the communities for each user?  For example, if I'm logged in to my Jive-n instance via Okta, and I configure a 1-way bridge to a Jive-x instance so I can access content from Jive-n, do I need to authenticate somehow to Jive-x?  When does that authentication happen?  Does my username need to be the same between the two instances?

      Thanks!
