Hi Ian Anderson,
Reviewing through your description and screenshots it does appear you are running into JIVE-74593 which is set to be resolved starting in the 2016.2.3 release of the platform, scheduled out next week.
However, if you are still seeing this behavior after next week's update I would recommend submitting a case in your customer group here in the Jive Community as a next step.
I will check again after next weeks updates.
