Just want to make sure you saw this,
If you are making a button in the profile bar, then you pass information about the profile being viewed using the context variable. See the examples in the link above.
If you are making an action, then you use the view context, such as this example

Hi Ryan , I checked your examples , they are really helpful. I didn't know lot about Jive.
But as I see app.xml has info about what context will be passed to view. But that is fair if I use url parameter. But what if I use view parameter e.g.
How to specify it here.

Make sure your view is pointing to a html page like below -
<Content type="html" view="profile-tab" href="your.html" preferred_height="1500" />
And after this, once you deploy your add-on you will see your add-on changes in the following url path - https://....<somepath>..../apps/<appID>/profile-tab
