sso user update attempted when underlying implementation does not support it

    jong

I have a customer that's getting the error below when trying to login to our community:

com.jivesoftware.community.aaa.sso.SSOAuthenticationException: sso user update attempted when underlying implementation does not support it

What can be the cause of such an error?

      Thanks

          Hi Jong,

Reviewing through the error snippet above this error typically occurs when trying to update a username to one that already exists with a different user. To resolve the issue, make sure that the Username field is NOT federated  (admin console >> people >> settings >> single sign-on >> SAML >> user mapping) in user attribute mapping, for username, select "override with assertion attribute" but do NOT check the name next to the attribute

Or, if this is not a duplicate username I would recommend submitting a case in your customer group ( MyJive Secret Support Group Administration FAQ ) as a next step so that a member of our support team can assist with further investigations specific to your instance.

          Thanks!
