What is the Optimal video size?

    tmaurer

I just reviewed this document, Video Module FAQ, and I suspect this passage has not been updated in a while since it refers to 4.5 version of Jive.

How is video encoded? Bit rate? FPS? Size? What is the resolution?

H.264 @ 500kbps, audio quality 64.0 kpbs.  The player is sized at 400x333 for pre-4.5 and 500x328 for 4.5  and the video has a resolution width of 768.

I am recording new videos, and have yet to be able to figure out the best height and width to fill the screen and get the best resolution. Can someone at Jive please comment?

      Thanks!

          Hi Tracy Maurer,

I have reach out to our Product team to review through and update the Video Module FAQ document, however in the meantime, checking internally, when you upload a video it is encoded into the following file formats which stream based on the available bandwidth of your connection:

          DimensionsEncodingVideo bitrateAudio bitrate
          360pMP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) - mobile-optimized500 kbps64.0 kbps
          480pMP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) - web-optimized850 kbps96.0 kbps
          720pMP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) - web-optimized2000 kbps96.0 kbps

As for player size, this is embedded in a 773px x 437px frame:
