This sounds like a general support question, and I would recommend filing a support case for this specific scenario.

In general, I would double check the permission sets for the messages. Make sure they are in a public and/or rightly permission'd space. From the steps you described and how I use moderation here in the JiveWorks....things should work once the content has been approved as long as the permissions are in order.
