Sorry no one has answered this question, I am a little confused, please can you explain how you were going to create a link between the 2 DB and I can investigate further?
sometimes I'm asked to provide custom 'reports'. I'm usually in trouble, because I can not JOIN tables. For example: I need the JIVEUSER from SBS and the JIVESTREAMASSOCIATION from EAE. These tables both have USERID, so I could JOIN them, but the are on two separate DBs.

This should be fine and not cause a problem however is unsupported by Jive in that if it causes an issue we may ask you to remove the DB Link. Please ensure you do not alter or add constraints to tables or remove permissions.
