Re: Has anyone experienced problems with copy & pasting a screenshot in IE11 into a document using the Snipping Tool?
Donna Skoog Jul 14, 2017 12:07 PM (in response to barry.grant)1 person found this helpfulI have the same issue (although I am pretty sure it did at one time work) and opened a case on it but there was no resolution. Fortunately I can use Chrome. I think your only option is to save the image locally and then insert through the editor insert image button. I would suggest opening a case, possibly you can get a resolution.

barry.grant Jul 14, 2017 12:32 PM (in response to Donna Skoog)Thanks Donna,
It has previously worked for our IE users (I can also use Chrome, but my company IT department will not change from IE!). I'll raise a case with Jive and see if anything can be done.

It's getting to a point where the IT depts should be offering up Chrome at least as an option, if not the default. We test our site less and less on IE, focusing on Chrome, Firefox and iOS Safari. You might be interested in our browser metrics for element14.com.. even back in Dec 2016, Chrome was at 57%. Currently, IE11 only constitutes 2.9% of our traffic.

It's fair enough if legacy systems need you to use IE11.. but having it as a fallback option makes more sense than having IE11 as your only browser.

Re: Has anyone experienced problems with copy & pasting a screenshot in IE11 into a document using the Snipping Tool?
barry.grant Jul 20, 2017 6:50 AM (in response to mcollinge)Thanks for sharing, Matt. I've mentioned it to our IT department and had the response that Chrome was the least secure browser available, with IE11 the most secure. I'm far from an expert, but I always thought that Chrome was reasonably secure and certainly no worse than IE11 (although I'm happy to be corrected on this!).
It now also seems that with IE11 our users can't collaborate on an uploaded Excel file too (it works using Chrome)... Using a collaborative tool where the users can't collaborate on a document would suggest a potential issue...

It'd be interesting to know what source they're using to say that IE11 is the most secure
In the 2015 Pwn2Own hacking contest IE11 didn't fare too well. The final cracked bug count came to:
- 5 bugs in the Windows operating system
- 4 bugs in Internet Explorer 11
- 3 bugs in Mozilla Firefox
- 3 bugs in Adobe Reader
- 3 bugs in Adobe Flash
- 2 bugs in Apple Safari
- 1 bug in Google Chrome
In 2016 they didn't try cracking IE11 (they generally try to target the latest browsers people are using).. they used Edge instead;
- Microsoft Windows: 6
- Apple OS X: 5
- Adobe Flash: 4
- Apple Safari: 3
- Microsoft Edge: 2
- Google Chrome: 1 (duplicate of an independently reported vulnerability)
