Hi Anthony Lombardo,
At this time, there unfortunately is not a way to track Jive Daily with Google Analytics. The reason for this is that when a user is interacting with a Jive instance via Jive Daily, they are actually not visiting the site, rather they are seeing activity loaded into their Jive Daily client via the API. When a user creates, updates or deletes content on Jive Daily, they are also doing so via API calls. This is an important distinction, because the way GA works actually requires a user to visit the Jive instance directly through a web browser. For reference, see the following excert from How Google Analytics Works | Analytics Market :
When a visitor arrives at a page with tracking code, the code is executed by his browser. It collects informationabout the visitor's browser and computer settings, like screen resolution, operating system, etc. The script's visibility is pretty limited. It can typically only see what it's told.
The script then sets a few cookies containing some basic visit information. These cookies determine whether it is a new or returning visitor, among other things.
All that said, I agree that would be a valuable improvement to the Jive Platform. You might want to add this functionality as an improvement idea in our Ideas for Jive Space, where improvement Ideas are voted on by members of the community and reviewed for inclusion in future versions of Jive.
Thanks much for your help on this, Blake. And I'm no stranger to Ideas for Jive - heading there now....
