I think it is really just a way to understand why the number of views on a piece of content can be so much higher than the number of unique viewers. I'm not sure you act on it other than it providing context.
You may also consider it as an indicator of collaboration, if the documents were edited by multiple authors. I guess you would have to check the authors on each document's version history.
And even when there was only one author, that indicator may mean a gradual construction of the document's content. That would mean that your community adopted the social network as a workplace instead of just being a place to share information.
