bunster Oct 6, 2009 12:40 PM (in response to heiderino)Have any of you already planned/picked which Track/sessions you're attending? Most seem open w/o pre-registration, so if we're each going to the same sessions, we could all compare notes while we're there and perhaps afterwards...

Re: Who else has a public-facing Community?
heiderino Oct 14, 2009 9:28 AM (in response to heiderino)Alrighty. I suppose we should find a time and place to meet! I know the internal community managers are planning to meet Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. I'd kind of like to sit in on that for a while, so here are a couple options:
Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. in the bar
Tuesday, after the welcome reception... In the bar
Thoughts?

Re: Who else has a public-facing Community?
angela.burk Oct 14, 2009 10:13 AM (in response to heiderino)Hi everyone, my name is Angela Burk, and I joined Jive 2 weeks ago as the new director of community marketing. A good location for this meeting could be the bar at the W called XYZ bar.
The restaurant will be closed, but their bar has ample space including large alcove-like seating areas suitable for informal group of this size.
Plus, I have a feeling no one's going to argue about meeting at a bar!
Enjoy yourselves, and I look forward to meeting you all soon.
I'm so thrilled to see so much energy behind this public community gathering. Thanks, Heidi, for getting the ball rolling.

dgeorge Oct 14, 2009 1:26 PM (in response to heiderino)Hello all! I'm Dave George, Director of Social Media at K12. Our Jive community is semi-public, in that it is open to our K12 customers, but we are considering ways of opening part of it externally. I am definitely coming to XYZ bar on the 27th to meet you all and chat it up. See you there!
PS I love bars.
Oh, also, I'd love to see what some of your external Jive communities look like prior to the event. Does anyone mind posting their URL here?

Re: Who else has a public-facing Community?
trishaliu Oct 26, 2009 1:35 PM (in response to heiderino)What a great idea! Hope I can get there by 4:30!
Our community is private for customers and partners, with employee participation. So, we're not quite public, but not internal either. https://protect724.arcsight.com to view the home page.
The ArcSight Protect 724 community is for customers, partners and employees to share ideas and best practices (hopefully as docs); interact with each other (Q&A in discussions); and network. Our phased rollout started in August 2009 with official launch in September at the ArcSight User Conference. From the start, the users went groups crazy on their own with no instructions provided.

Re: Who else has a public-facing Community?
rickpalmer Oct 27, 2009 5:48 PM (in response to heiderino)Heidi - thanks so much for suggesting this meet-up (and thanks everyone for letting me sit in with you)!
It was great to hear first-hand what's working and what's not, from those of you who are living and breathing "community" every day.
Everyone, would you mind taking a minute at some point during the conference or afterwards and replying here with something you learned from the discussion, or something that was a light-bulb comment that'll help you improve your community in some way? I think that'll help everyone else who reads this thread in the future too
Enjoy the rest of the conference!

I was somewhat amazed to hear how many people were still on CSC 2.5 and how many other organizations seemed to also not put a lot of people resources into their community. In some ways, it made me feel better that my organization is not as unique as I had thought.
I also am convinced, based on hearing others' experiences, that it takes at least a year to really get a community rolling.
It was great meeting everyone! I'm really looking forward to today's (Wednesdays) talks.
