    Active Participants in Time Periods

    Ted Hopton

I'd like to understand how the Active Participants are defined and measured. I know the definition of an Active Participant (someone who has created content), but I don't know how the result is calculated. What I want to understand is how unique Active Participants are calculated for a given time period.

So, I'd like to be able to see how many Active Participants I had on a given day, in a given week, month, year or any time period I specify. Can I get that accurately?

I have those same questions as well. Any response?

Brad - we have also been working on a subset of specific activity types to define "active".  Below is the list we are using in the the Business Objects system we have put in place.  This is intended to reflect an action that an end user would have to perform indicating that they were active during a period of time.  This is obviously at the lowest common denominator, but it is relatively straightforward to build more descriptive measures based on these activities by limiting "active" to a smaller subset of codes (e.g. create) or requiring a minimum number of occurences of the activities.

Active Member:  Member performing at least 1 end-user activity during a defined period. End-user activities include:

              Ted,

I have just published a document, albeit very technical, of how the reports in the dashboard are calculated. If this is too technical let me know. Hope this helps.
