Several examples to point you to where clients have tiered access where basically if you go there you see something but if you have the right credentials you see additional groups/spaces, etc. -
- SAP Collaboration Workspace - https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/index.jspa, different partners and customers have access to varying levels of views
- Knowledge Infusion - http://www.knowledgeinfusion.com/ki_ondemand/, interesting example where they are delivering varying amounts of their analyst and consulting services through their community. I attached a slide deck that Jason Corsello gave as part of a co-preso with me at the Gilbane Conference 2 months back, with slides 9 and 16 specifically getting to your question. Let me know if you would like to chat more with Jason.
- Intel Channel Voice community - specifically for partners, but it's basically totally private with several levels of varying access that syncs with the level of partnership (of their 200,000+ partners). scott palmer would be a good contact for more info as well.
- Chordiant - I believe this is a private one as well but could probably connect you there as well if needed.
I'll bring visibility of this q into Jive to see if others have more examples and ideas.
Very helpful, Adam. Thank you! Let me circulate these around and see if we want to dig deeper with Chordiant.
Glad to help. Also, a couple other thoughts from inside Jive to share-
McAfee - They distinguish their customers by consumer and corporate. Furthermore, corporate customers are segmented by 3 levels. Each level determines where they can participate.
Kinaxis - http://community.kinaxis.com/index.jspa
Over on BMC Communities we have a pretty progressive use of tiered structure with 75 different permission groups divided up over 300+ communities.
Any specific questions you have?
I'm not sure we're at the point where we have any specific questions. I'm just trying to see how other people are doing it in terms of visual cues, search results, messaging, etc. Thanks for the link.
